Problem

Yemen has long been one of the poorest countries in the Middle East. Half of the population is facing a food crisis. Many more need clean water and medical care. Disease, hunger and war pose a triple threat in Yemen.  It’s now being called one of the worst humanitarian disasters of our time.

Our Response

We are providing life-saving medical and food assistance to the thousands of people in Yemen affected by this destructive war. We have established a medical facility in the heart of the devastation in Yemen that treats up to a thousand patients a day suffering from both diseases and injuries.

Food trucks are deployed across Yemen in order to reach the families that need them the most, providing them with 35kg of food to last them the next month.  This therefore, gives families one less worry in this hostile environment.

Global One is also supplying women and girls with Dignity Kits, equipping them with essential items to deal with menstruation so that they can restore some dignity.

Where

Yemen

Food

One food package to feed a family of 4 for one month costs just £55.

We deploy both small and large food trucks which carry either 10 or 20 of these packages. To cover the cost of the whole distribution of a small truck to feed 10 families costs just £550, or to feed 20 families, £1100.

Medicine

It costs just £70 to treat 10 sufferers of disease or injury.

We treat up to 1,000 patients per day, so to fund the entire operation for a day, treating 1,000 people will cost £7,000. That’s a lot of lives changed.

Dignity Kit

Each Dignity Kit costs £25, supporting a woman or girl in managing her menstruation and hygiene for 3 months. That’s under £9 a month to restore her dignity in spite of the other worries .
