Protect Mothers and Babies
Help protect vulnerable mother's who have no access to healthcare, vital baby aftercare or baby equipment and tools.
"And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship" (Quran 46:15)
Each day, 800 women die from preventable causes relating to pregnancy and childbirth. That’s nearly 1 woman every 2 minutes.
Each year, 1 million children are left motherless, with these children more vulnerable to …
Almost all global maternal deaths can be prevented by ensuring women have access to quality maternity healthcare. With a donation of £99 you can help us protect mothers and babies in the developing world.
At Global One we are committed to giving pregnant women and new-born babies a better chance of survival. We aim to provide support for some of the most vulnerable women and children in the world, with our programmes focused in areas of extreme poverty and within refugee camps where the health of thousands of pregnant women, new mothers and babies are at risk. Nearly 95% of global maternal deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, where Global One focuses its support.
Our flagship Mother and Baby Box4Life support is a life-saving kit that provides the essentials required for the first 6-month period after childbirth. This is a critical period in ensuring the health of both mother and child. We also acquire and refurbish baby incubators in developing countries to support premature or ill babies. Our programme also provides primary maternal health support, funding delivery rooms and training medical staff.
With your support, we can give pregnant women and new-born babies a greater chance of survival and a flourishing life.
Statistics:
Lack of health care causes 800 women to die every day from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. That’s nearly 1 woman every 2 minutes. Further to that, 5.4 million children under the age of five die each year and the risk of infantile death is eight times higher in Africa than it is in Europe.
Across areas of extreme poverty and within refugee camps, the health of thousands of pregnant women, new mothers and babies are at risk. With over half of the world’s population living without access to essential healthcare services, expectant mothers and children are facing the most dangerous of conditions.
Lack of healthcare leads to maternal deaths. Many premature births and related deaths occur in developing countries due to infections, malaria and HIV. The high levels of teenage pregnancy also impact this problem. The probability that a 15 year old girl will eventually die from a maternal cause is 1/5300 in high income countries this is 1/5300; in low-income countries this is 1/49
In poor countries, just 10% of babies born before 28 weeks live, whereas, in rich countries, 90% survive.
