Global One is a UK-based Muslim women-led international development NGO created in 2013 under the leadership of Dr Husna Ahmad OBE.
Our approach is unique – we use faith and culture as tools for increasing knowledge and promoting positive behavioural change in communities.
We also partner locally to create sustainable development solutions in Global Health, Agriculture, Livelihoods and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
We believe the answer to global inequality lies in leadership from all sections of society, including women. Global One is therefore proud to have a majority women board, and a platform that gives diverse women from all backgrounds the opportunity to lead the organisation.
We actively train and support women leaders of the future through our projects, consultancy services and within the organisation.
Since our establishment, we have created and delivered innovative and sustainable projects in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Somaliland, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nepal, Lebanon, Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Jordan, and the UK.
Based on our last accounting period, 91p in every pound was used towards our work in directly helping those that need it most.
We work with impoverished communities to improve medical capacity and awareness on community health issues.
We work with communities to improve local water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure and awareness.
We believe that the world’s food needs can be met through smallholder farming, using sustainable agriculture methods.
Livelihoods are integrated into our other thematic areas to deliver development programmes that are sustainable.
