In our hectic routine we often forget about the 68.5 million people who are now forcibly displaced around the world.
For the #WorldRefugeeWeek of this year, GlobalOne celebrates and remembers all the Refugee Women whom, with our help and your generous donations, are now able to play an essential role in the development of their community.
GlobalOne’s mission is people-centered and in this time of crisis we engage more than ever with Refugee women to restore their dignity by providing adequate health care and nutrition.
In the past 6 years our projects have extended from the distribution of adequate feminine hygiene, with our Dignity Kits that have now been distributed across Lebanon, Jordan and Bangladesh, to the enhancement of Maternal Health care.
These actions prevented refugee women from further unnecessary suffering and discomfort by empowering and enabling them to save and restore their strength.
We believe in giving our women and girls the tools to make change happen, giving new hope to communities affected by and forced into displacement.
Today we also can’t help but remember the half a million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and all the Rohingya women who, because of the impracticality of a proper humanitarian
coalition, are today lacking dignified health care, nutrition and education. At the same time, we cannot forget the Syrian refugee crisis that is still embodying the most protracted and complex humanitarian emergencies of modern times. According to the UNHCR the number of registered Syrian refugees today reaches 5,627,690 million people. As the Refugee crisis continues, a response that encompasses humanitarian and development interventions is today an imperative.
In light of what Filippo Grandi, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, asserted in one of his last public appearances: “The world is not facing a refugee crisis- it’s a crisis in solidarity”, today GlobalOne calls everyone to engage with Refugee Week.
As part of the simple acts for this week, we invite everyone to make a small donation to fund our ongoing sustainable projects and take part in any event exploring the lives of refugees this week.
Compassion is the most generous act.
