Carbon Footprint

Trees absorb a lot of our carbon output. One tree can absorb 21 Kg of carbon in a year. To travel from the UK to Jedda we produce about 1.55 tonnes of CO2!

You will have to plant only 4 trees to make your flight “a carbon balanced flight”, with our Plant a Tree campaign, costs just £20.

Carbon footprint refers to the measure of the impact an individual’s actions have on the environment. It is the amount of greenhouse gasses (carbon dioxide) produced in day-to-day life through burning fossil fuels for electricity, heating and transportation, etc. It is calculated with units of tons or Kg of carbon dioxide. It is made up of two parts; the direct footprint that is amassed from activities such as driving a car, and indirect footprint from aspects such as the carbon used to produce food and other goods.
A key aspect of reducing our carbon footprint and our impact on climate change is moving away from a materialistic culture where we consume huge quantities when far less is required to survive and live a fulfilling life. By reducing our consumption, we can reduce both our direct and indirect carbon footprint.
Trees absorb a lot of our carbon output. One tree can absorb 21 Kg of carbon in a year. Recognising the huge benefit of planting just one tree can be instrumental in combatting climate change. We encourage you to consider planting one to offset your carbon impact generated from travel.

“If any Muslim plants a tree or sows a field, and a human, bird or animal eats from it, it shall be reckoned as charity from him.” (Saheeh al-Bukhari)
