Global One is launching a DIGNITY KITS campaign to deliver hygiene packs to displaced women and girls of reproductive age to save their dignity and comfort in this time of crisis. We will help Syrian refugees, rural communities in Nepal and Nigeria, and the newly arrived Rohingyas in Bangladesh.
In crisis situations, the need for clean water, shelter, food and security are rightly given priority. Due to gender-specific needs, women are disproportionately affected by the strain on services. The lack of feminine hygiene products and undergarments forces women to use unsafe materials, leading to infection and disease. Effective menstrual management is essential for mental and physical well-being.
Distressed and traumatised, most Rohingya women flee Myanmar in fear for their life, often unable to take basic essentials with them. But their plight does not end at the Naf river. The lack of soap, underwear, absorbing materials, as well as the absence of safe latrines and spaces to manage their cleaning needs, is yet another burden the women face.
We aim to raise £2 million to support 100,000 distressed Rohingya women. Each woman in need will receive a £20 worth of hygiene products, lasting for 3 months. The packs have been tailored according to cultural preferences. Each Dignity Kit will contain:
- Sanitary towels – 3 packs of 10
- Reusable sanitary towels – 5 piece
- Washing soap – x 3
- Hair Comb
- Underwear (5 pairs)
- Nail clippers
- Coconut oil
Help us change a life with just £20. It’s up to us.
